Why does the IC card need to be initialized (i.e. encrypted) while the ID card does not

Our IC cards undergo an initialization (i.e. encryption) process after leaving the factory. Many customers have questions about why IC cards need to be initialized while ID cards do not? Below is an explanation for everyone:

14.jpgWhen using an IC card, it is necessary to first authenticate it with the unique bidirectional key between the IC card reader and writer devices before proceeding with related work, so that the entire system has a high level of security guarantee. Therefore, it is necessary to initialize (i.e. encrypt) the IC card that leaves the factory, in order to generate an unbreakable one card system key in the IC card after leaving the factory, in order to ensure the secure issuance mechanism of the one card system.

After initialization (i.e. encryption) of the IC card, when it is handed over to the user for use, the customer IC card issuing system generates its own system specific key for each user card, ensuring that user cards issued by other user systems cannot be used in the system, guaranteeing the specificity of the system and thus ensuring the secure use mechanism of the system.

ID cards, like magnetic cards, only use the "card number". Apart from the card number, there is no confidentiality function in the card, and its "card number" is public and exposed. Therefore, ID cards are "inductive magnetic cards", and there is no question of whether initialization is needed or not.
